Welcome to the EDCI 434 Teaching English in the Middle School Blog!
Welcome Purdue students! This will be our class blog for the next 6 weeks. You are required to post two posts a week (at least) about class readings and discussions. Daily discussion leaders should consult the blog posts and use them to structure and lead discussions about various class topics of interest.
Let's start by writing a little about your upcoming student teaching placements and experiences. Where will you be going? What will you be teaching? Do you know yet? What age group will you be working with? Are any of you working with middle schoolers? What questions or concerns do you have? What are you most excited about?
I'll see you soon!
Janet

So, here we go again, eh. I am most priveleged to be student teaching with Mrs. Mary Eisert at Wea Ridge Middle School. I will be teaching 6 classes of eighth grade students on three levels, basic, regular, and advanced. The focus of the class is literature and I will be involved in teaching four books and a poetry unit that I get to develop all by myself. Yippee!! I'm terribly excited about getting some hands on experience teaching, although I most definitely am dreading the change that is going to occur in my schedule starting the 20th of February. I am getting a little bit too used to getting up late and not having anything to do. I had to get up at 7 the other day and I about didn't make it.
